Roadmap AAL-Interoperability is of international interest

On March 15th, 2012 Prof. Hajime Yamada from the Department of Economics of Toyo University, Japan, visited the OFFIS Institute for Information Technology in Oldenburg, for an exchange of information and discussion about the activities in the field of „Ambient Assisted Living“ - in particular the RAALI project coordinated by OFFIS.

Hajime Yamada is a member of the Strategic Group "AAL" of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which supervises and attends the development of the first standards for AAL from a international perspective.

The visit shows that the work carried out by the RAALI project is appreciated across national borders and that first international activities towards the development of harmonized standards for AAL are starting. Shared activities by the countries which have to adress the coming effects of demographic change can be expected.
