DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

The Standardisation Division combines all specification development activities of the standardisation bodies that go beyond standardisation. It is important to recognize and pick up new trends for standardisation and specification needs based on research and development in innovative fields of technology. A fast implementation of results is required in order to support the transfer of knowledge and technology among stakeholders and to enable an efficient use of resources (e. g. information, workflows). Primary tasks are:

  • Development of specifications (guidelines and application guides) that can later be converted into standards by achieving public consent.
  • Support in the development of VDE position papers and whitebooks.
  • Consultancy and provision of services and infrastructure for specifications development activities, e. g. in choosing the most appropriate type of publication.
  • INS projects ("Innovation with Standards and Specifications") funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology enable a transfer of standardisation into science and are encouraged, initiated and coordinated by the division.
  • Involvement as partner or coordinator in R&D projects with public funding, e. g. preparation and submission of project proposals.
  • Support in the contribution of standards and specifications on national, European and international level.

DKE is involved with the AAL in the field of standardisation and specification since 2008 through various projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (e. g. WohnSelbst, STADIWAMI), collaboration in the European project universAAL as well as collaboration in two working groups ("Quality Criteria" and "Interface Integration and Interoperability") of the BMBF/VDE Innovation Partnership on AAL.
